We looked at several prospective products lines before choosing the 3 lines that we feel represent some of the best professional quality lines in the industry; Redken, L'Oréal Professionnel and Innersence Organic.
Here is a little background on each product line:
L'Oréal Professionnel
L'Oréal Professionnel provides exclusive professional answers to every haircare and styling need. A little over 100 years ago, a man by the name of Eugène Schueller, a young French chemist, developed the world’s first synthetic hair dye. He called his innovation Auréole which translated means “halo”. The word Auréole later inspired the name of our company as we know it today - “L’Oréal Professionnel”. Eugène Schueller continued to formulate and manufacture his own products which sold exclusively to hairdressers in salons. In 1909, Schueller registered his company as the Société Française de Teintures Inoffensives pour Cheveux ("Safe Hair Dye Company of France"). With that, a legend in the professionnel beauty industry was born.

One hundred years later, L’Oréal Professionnel continues to set the standard with cutting edge technologies maintaining its original mission to empower hairstylists with innovative and safe tools to help them develop their craft and grow their business.

Innersence Organic Beauty
The INNERSENSE Name
The name Innersense came from a wise psychologist who was counseling the company's founders. As parents of a special needs child, they were worried that they wouldn’t always know what to do. So she told them, “trust your inner sense.” And they did.
As you travel through your life’s journey, remember…always trust your inner sense.
Innersense was founded on the principles of organic beauty and wellness. It’s based on organic lifestyle choices that encourage health, vitality and balance.
We believe that when we listen to our “inner sense” we are guided to make positive choices that create well-being in all areas of our life.
We believe in organic beauty – bringing out your inner beauty so that you can be, and look your very best.
We believe in the beauty & wellness professionals who care for others all day. It is through their creative hands and open heart that clients feel beautifully rejuvenated.
We believe in environmental sustainability – we're committed to making environmentally sound choices in our products, packaging and working environment. Innersense is a Certified Green Business. We believe in kindness to animals. Innersense products proudly bear the Leaping Bunny logo certifying that we do not test on animals and neither do our ingredient suppliers.
We believe in giving back - we will donate a portion of Innersense profits to environmental causes and other worthy charities.

Nurture your Hair, Skin, Senses and Spirit
In these mind-numbing, hyperkinetic times, many of us race through our daily cleansing and beauty regimens in a robotic trance. We believe that these routines -- cleansing and maintaining the body -- are sacred exercises. This is why we've created a simple, meditative ritual to accompany each Innersense beauty and wellness product. These rituals don't take long...just a few seconds, but they focus your energy creating a sense of harmony for body, mind and spirit.

Redken
Redken balances its solid past of science with inspiration from the industry's best educators and a street sense of fashion that keeps Redken on the cutting edge.
History
Redken Laboratories, founded in 1960, is a company built from the inspiration of a dynamic, entrepreneurial American actress named Paula Kent.
Frequent chemical services and style changes were routine for any aspiring actress of her day, but Paula was extra sensitive to many of the products used by the hairdressers and make-up artists. She felt continually frustrated that no one could explain why the products were irritating. Necessity is the mother of invention, and Paula realized that working with professional hairdressers, she could help millions of other people also wanting high performance products that were gentle.
Paula Kent and her hairdresser, Jheri Redding (thus the name "REDKEN") began with three products and an intensive education program for hairdressers about the chemistry of hair and skin. The formulas were developed based on three principles:
- Protein technology (since hair is composed primarily of protein)
- An acidic pH of 4.5-5.5, complementing the natural pH of the hair and skin
- Products recommended exclusively by licensed cosmetologists in professional salons
By 1965, Paula had full ownership of Redken Laboratories, based in California. During the '70s and '80s, the company was a leader in product technology in the US and abroad. In 1993, L'Oreal purchased Redken and now its headquarters are on 5th Avenue NYC. Today, Redken is a global leader in professional haircare products and services. The company is energized with talented people, strong partnerships with the best hairdressers, and superior Research and Development. Redken products are now available in professional beauty salons in over 50 countries.
BEAUTY POWERED BY SCIENCE
Beginning in 1960, Redken revolutionized the professional salon business by introducing the concept of protein reconditioning. Based on evidence that hair is composed primarily of proteins, and can absorb topically applied proteins, Redken developed new protein based products. Salons were suddenly able to condition hair internally and for the long-term rather than solely camouflage damage.
Redken soon began to develop patented protein technologies and now holds over 60 global patents on products and ingredients. In fact, Redken's two latest patents for protein technology are the basis for our haircare and styling lines. Patent #6,015,574 was issued for Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System. An integral part of Redken's haircare collection, it provides simple solutions to specific needs by carrying highly specialized ingredients to the hair. These ingredients help transform the hair's inner structure while dramatically improving its outer appearance.
Patent #6,013,250 was issued for Redken's new 3D Repair Complex, which is in the EXTREME line of haircare products. Delivered by the Interbond Conditioning System, the 3D Repair Complex includes proteins, ceramide and natural lipids to help provide internal strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing to distressed hair.
In 2008, Redken 5th Avenue NYC was announced as one of the "Icons of the American Marketplace" together with 256 other American brands. Random House Publishing in partnership with Columbia University honored consumer brand excellence to the top 257 brands out of 800 nominations. Redken is the only haircare brand named and the tribute is commemorated in a hardbound coffee table book.
And for the future... Our commitment to formulate scientifically superior products for the global salon community continues, and as we forge ahead in the millennium, our awareness of fashion, street trends and modern hair needs will only enhance our scientific strength. |
